May I say that, Bungie have commented on carrying on the Master Chief story. Quoted here, Bungie saying they probably will carry it on, with the Quotes;
"At the end of Halo 3, and cover your ears if you haven't played it, Master Chief is in cryosleep, Cortana has sent a rescue signal, and they are orbiting a strange world. We'd have to be the world's biggest * to not follow through on his story."
So, here may be proof, if their not carying on the Halo series, will they bring Master Chief into another type of game, I wouldnt have thought myself, but you never know.
Reading somewhere else, there was one line after the quotation above saying:
"But I'm not saying were not the world's biggest *"
So who know, just thought I would throw this at you guys.
